South Zanzibar Maximum

On this excursion you will be able to relax and get the full range of emotions from contact with the wildlife of Zanzibar.
We will start our journey at the home of the dolphins. Many people know that dolphins are the most similar to humans in development and have self-awareness and emotional empathy, as well as their vocabulary, with the help of which they communicate with each other reaches 15 thousand “words and meanings”. That is why meeting these amazing creatures in the wild is always a thrill.
For the meeting to take place we will have to wake up early, as dolphins do not like the heat. We can find them by going to the coast of the south-west, there is an opportunity not only to admire the passing packs, but also to be in the very centre of them. And if watching from the boat is not enough for you and you want to swim alongside these beautiful animals, you can take your fins and mask and try to get to know them better.
After the walk, you will be offered coffee and fruit on the shore to give you some rest before your onward journey.
The next stage is the cave of wishes. It is located close to the bay. It is not yet a very popular destination for tourists, so you will have a chance to see this place in its pristine state. As the legend goes, the native inhabitants of the island used to dive into the transparent water of the dungeon for complete purification and rebirth of the soul and body, after which their cherished wish came true. You can test the ancient legend by making a wish and performing the ritual. Although the cave seems to be shallow, but it is a deception of vision because of the clear water, in fact, the depth there is quite large. Before diving you will rinse under the shower, and on the way out you will be waited by a small musical programme, you can just listen to local instruments and even try to play them.
The final stage of our tour will be the red monkey forest -Jonzani.
Jonzani is the National Nature Park of Zanzibar, it is the only part of the island where development is forbidden. The name suggests that the main attraction here is the monkeys. There are red colobus and blue (crowned) monkeys. It is worth to dwell on the first ones in more detail.
Red colobus have a protected status, their numbers are dwindling due to chimpanzees that aggressively hunt them. Nowhere else in the world, except Zanzibar, can you encounter them in the wild. These monkeys live in groups and feed on fruit and other plant foods. Unlike many other species, they are responsible parents and take care of their cubs from the age of one and a half to four years, so there is no aggression towards their young.
There is also a lot of other flora and fauna to see in the Jonzani Forest, crowned (blue) monkeys, a variety of lizards, varans and chameleons may come your way. You’re probably unlikely to spot them on your own, but the guides can easily distinguish the masters of camouflage who blend in with the grass. And they’ll show them to you. There are also colourful, tropical butterflies flying around.
The forest itself is rather small, almost at the end of the excursion you will come out to the glade which is favoured by colobus, here they come very close, the little ones are running under the feet. They are very friendly and are not afraid of the presence of humans, it always causes a desire to touch them, it seems to be worth only to reach out a hand, but the guides strictly watch that tourists would not touch the animals in the park.
