Description

The second largest in Tanzania after Selous Park, is in the East African region of the same name and has quite an interesting geographical location.
– To the north-west is the famous Lake Victoria, named after the British Queen.
– To the north-east is the highest stratovolcano, Kilimanjaro (there have been no documented eruptions, but it looks impressive).
– In the north it meets the Kenya border and the Masai Mara Park.
– In the south-east it passes into Ngorongo Park, we also offer excursions there, you can find out what this park is and what kind of excursions we offer here.
Serengeti was settled relatively recently, about 200 years ago. The first settlers were semi-nomadic Masai tribes. They migrated from the Nile Valley (Sudan). They have a reputation of harsh warriors, but in fact they are more oriented on cattle breeding. This is probably the reason for the migration to the area.
It was the Maasai who gave their names to the valley. Serengeti, which translates to Boundless Plains. Their rock paintings are still preserved in the park, and excavations are underway at the sites of ancient settlements.
With the arrival of Europeans in 1913, a partial reserve was created, and in 1951 it was expanded and turned into a national park. By the way, the reserve is devoted to TV series and the book “Serengeti must not die”. In the end, of course, the defenders of the park managed to achieve impressive results and preserve this amazing place.
What will be able to please and surprise the Serengeti Park its guests.
First of all, of course, it is the animals. Here you can meet all the famous African five – leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant rhinoceros (Actually it is a hunting term, but hunting on animals in this park is prohibited). Huge populations of different species of ungulates and more than 500 species of various birds. Moreover, this reserve is home to animals that you cannot find anywhere else in the world. Apart from the above mentioned species you can also meet zebras, giraffes, crocodiles, gnu antelopes, hyenas, baboons and others.
Secondly, of course, is the migration of animals. Running herds are a sight, a little frightening and amazing. And it is not a thousand or even a few thousand animals. Only migrating zebras about 220 thousand, and antelopes gnu in general more than a million. The most interesting thing is that their natural instincts are so strong that make them cross rivers swarming with crocodiles and rush through the territories that are hunting grounds of lions. So you can watch these beautiful predators hunting during their migration.
It’s also the only place in the reserve where you can take a hot air balloon tour. And if you think that you will just be lifted to a certain height and you will be able to look at the park from above, you are mistaken. This is not only an opportunity to see the park from a bird’s eye view, but also to sneak up on the most wary animals, watch a lion or hyenas hunting. Experienced captains know where something interesting can happen and try to bring the balloon as close as possible. The photos are incredible.
Besides animals, Serengeti Park has beautiful landscapes and views, endless green meadows framed by mountains on the horizon, hills overgrown with trees, and of course incredible sunsets and sunrises, against the background of a constantly changing sky.
